Happiness?

Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog.

This blog is going to be about my journey to something everyone's longing for - happiness.

Some of you are probably thinking about certain questions. What is happiness? How am I going to achieve something, that sounds like a fairytale? You can't just decide that you are happy!

But I think you can. Actually, everyone is in charge of their own happiness. You can think of it this way... Why are you unhappy? Because you feel something. But who is in charge of your feelings? You.

When you actually think about things, you notice, that you can actually control everything about you. How you think, how you feel.

Here, in Finland, most people think that a "positive thinker" is someone who jumps around the walls and screams gleefully. Someone who annoys you very deeply. And if you don't do these things, you're automatically a normal finn - someone who's very pessimistic. But there's also a certain point of self pity that finns hate - but it usually comes when you talk too much about yourself.
Another thing that I hate about finns - nobody says any kind of compliments. This is regarded as "positive thinkin" -type of person, if you know what I mean. It must be sarcasm or he/she is high if she tells you, honestly, that you look great. And a person is arrogant, if he/she says sincerely only "Thank you". A finn should always be modest: "Oh, my hair's just... And my clothes... Please, don't."
Why are finns like this?! No wonder someone would be depressed here!

Probably the most of you started to think: "You said you can control almost everything. Well, not a break-up! You can't control another persons heart!"

Of course you can't control another persons heart! It is natural, after all, for a human being to feel stuff - happy, sorry, sad, angry. But that doesn't mean that the sadness should take over your life. You, as a person, can control these things - but it only takes quite some time.

Now, there are a few rules you might just try out, if you think you could add some light in your life. Just a few simple steps.

1) Don't worry and sulk about things you can't control. For example, don't whine about the weather - you can watch the weather forecast and prepare for the weather. What can your whining actually do to help this? Nothing else than just almost forcing others to think negatively!

2) If you're trying to achieve something, don't put the word "no" or "don't" in it. For example...

"I will not eat junk food." (at this moment, you'll just think how wonderful it would be to eat junk.)

"I will eat healthier." (BOOM, you think about the fruits. Do you notice the difference?)

And then, a small exercise. In this small thing, it doesn't matter if you know or don't know how to drive a car. Just read the text and visualize.

You are driving a car. Just imagine yourself driving the car. How do you feel? Is it complicated?

Now, you try to drive the car. Do you notice what happens? Is it easy or harder?

And now, we get to....

3) Avoid the word "try". I hope you noticed what a difference a word like that can do!

Every time, I'm going to have a  few missions for myself. And now, my mission is... to study!! (Do you know how hard it is to study at home for matriculation exams? (kinda like A-levels etc.) The computer just seduces me over and over again...)
